When we heard the name Koloss we knew Hutchinson were onto something big. And big it is! Koloss are the new Plus Size 27.5" tyres from Hutchinsion available in either the Toro or Taipan tread patterns and featuring new SpiderTech reinforcement.

Wait, whats Spidertech? We hear you saying. Let us explain. Hutchinson take their standard 66 TPI casing that would normally extend from bead to bead, but instead of stopping at the beads, they wrap around and come back up the sidewall to the beginning of the tread section. This construction technique gives you a double thickness casing on the sidewalls, stiffening them up and allowing the outside edge of the tread to bite more, while having a single thickness casing across the tread section, allowing for more deformation at low pressures so more of the tread can be making contact with the ground, no matter the terrain.

An excellent all around tyre, the Toro excels on a variety of terrain and conditions and was recently named "The best tyre to keep on your bike year round" by UK magazine Singletrack.

New from Hutchinson the Toro Koloss is a "plus sized" 27.5 x 2.80 version and features modifications to the original Toro tread pattern. These modifications take what was a relatively neutral tyre and transforms it into an aggressive performer for rough terrain. The centre section has been engineered with high deformation capacity for good ridability with strong braking stability while the lateral knobs are free to distort as required due to the strong support of the sidewall.

This Tubeless Ready 27.5 x 2.80 tyre features a folding bead design with a 66 TPI casing sporting hutchinsons new SpiderTech construction and weighs in at 900 grams.

While you could easily run a pair of these tyres for wet and muddy terrain, try running a Toro Koloss on the front with a Taipan Koloss on the rear for the ultimate all terrain setup.
